Using an Amazon Kindle Mobile Device

(The Kindle we used for our testing was a Kindle 3 with Wi-Fi and 3G access. Older versions and the Kindle DX might work differently.)

Do books and samples work on Amazon's Kindle?
Yes! The Kindle can easily view all of our eBooks and samples.

How do I put eBooks and samples onto my Kindle from my Mac?
To put eBooks and samples on your Kindle from your Mac, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your Kindle to your computer via the USB cable.
  2. Open up the Kindle from the icon on your desktop.
  3. Place the eBooks and samples you would like to transfer into the file named "documents" on the Kindle.
  4. Eject your Kindle from your desktop and access the book. (When you first open a new document, it may take a few moments for the file to be fully processed and ready to read on the Kindle.)

How do I put eBooks and samples onto my Kindle from my Windows PC?
To put eBooks and samples on your Kindle from your Windows PC, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your Kindle to your computer via the USB cable.
  2. Open up the Kindle from the "My Computer" window.
  3. Place the eBooks and samples you would like to transfer into the file named "documents" on the Kindle.
  4. Eject your Kindle from your desktop and access the book. (When you first open a new document, it may take a few moments for the file to be fully processed and ready to read on the Kindle.)

Do Enhanced eBooks also work on the Kindle?
Yes! Enhanced eBooks from our store are also PDFs, so just follow the same instructions to transfer them to your Kindle Fire. However, please note that the “enhanced” features of the eBooks will likely NOT work on any Kindle device at this time.

Can I listen to audiobooks and MP3 files I purchase on my Kindle?
Yes! The Kindle can easily play MP3 and audio files from our eStore.

Can I use all the software I buy on my Kindle?
No. Unfortunately, Flash files, Interactive Whiteboard products, and other software does not work on the Kindle at this time.

Can I buy and download eBooks, audiobooks and MP3 files directly from my Kindle?
No. While you can surf our site on Kindle's browser, at this point you are unable to download products from our eStore directly onto your Kindle. Instead, purchase them as you normally would on your computer, then transfer them over using the steps listed above.
